O’ROURKE SEEKS EXTRA CAPACITY FOR CLANE STRAFFAN BUS SERVICE

Local Fianna Fail TD, Frank O’Rourke, has made representations to have the bus service serving Clane and Straffan commuters improved.

Frank commented, “The Bus Service, Route 120, needs to immediately increase its capacity. Recently, commuters have been left at Bus Stops as the Buses are full. This is really unacceptable.”

“I have repeatedly called for increased capacity on this 120 bus route. Recently the service is unacceptable due to lack of additional capacity and we need to improve this service immediately. We must improve this service.”

“The numbers of commuters are growing using this service from Clane and Straffan and we need to improve it. We also need to provide a link between Straffan and Maynooth / Celbridge. ”, Frank concluded.

LAWLESS DELIGHTED THAT PLANNED RIC COMMEMORATION CANCELLED

James Lawless has expressed his delight that the RIC demonstration scheduled for the 17th January of this month has been cancelled by the Government.

The decision comes in the wake of public uproar and the decision of many Fianna Fáil representatives to boycott the ceremony.

“I am delighted to see common sense prevailing as the RIC commemoration event has been cancelled. I wouldn’t have been attending the commemoration for reasons I shall outline below.” Continue reading “LAWLESS DELIGHTED THAT PLANNED RIC COMMEMORATION CANCELLED”

O’ROURKE AGAIN CALLS FOR ACTION ON CELBRIDGE SCHOOL CAMPUS

Frank O’Rourke TD has called on the Minister for Education to press ahead with the provision of the school campus for Celbridge

“Three schools, Celbridge Community School, St Patricks National School, and St Raphael’s Special School are set to be co-located and we need to press ahead with the project without delay. All schools need a permanent location and having them on the same site as part of an educational campus make sense. We have a growing population and need to ensure that our educational facilities are fit for purpose given this growth.”

“I have made repeated representations and put down a parliamentary question to the Minister for Education in relation to this issue. I received a commitment that it is a priority for the Department of Education to progress this project. I will keep the pressure on the Department and the Minster to ensure that we make progress for these schools.”

LAWLESS PLEASED AT WINDFARM REFUSAL

James Lawless TD has expressed his satisfaction that Kildare County Council has refused planning permission for a proposed wind farm in North West Kildare.
Permission had been sought for a 12-turbine wind farm and amenity trail in the Dunfierth area.
James commented, “The Council were of the opinion that the local road network does not have the capacity to accommodate the heavy construction traffic and that the volume of traffic and type of vehicles would therefore endanger public safety.”

“I welcome this decision. While we need to transition to renewable energy, it must be done in consultation with local communities and in tandem with the necessary improvements of infrastructure. This application has already been refused multiple times and it was unfair to revisit it on the people of north west Kildare.”
