LAWLESS LEADS DELEGATION TO SAVE JOHNSTOWNBRIDGE SURGERY

James Lawless TD has led a delegation of dedicated volunteers on the Save Our Surgery Committee to meet with David Walsh, Head of the HSE, in Kildare

James commented, “In our meeting we discussed the recruitment process for Johnstownbridge Health Centre, clearly outlined the demand for the centre remaining open, and got reassurances it would remain open once a new full time GP has been hired, and any new GP who be provided with the Rural General Practitioners Allowance.”

“One of the main reassurances we were told by David Walsh was that the rural practitioners allowance would be kept with the surgrey. This is a huge improvement in the job offer as this was not confirmed before the committee began to apply our pressasure. This will make the position significantly more attractive to prospective applicants to take over the practice.”

“The HSE have committed to us that the centre will be preserved long term and supported including support staff as necessary. This will inculde renovations to the existing building and additional staff as the practise grows even further.”

“Over one thousand signatures and hundreds of testimonials were gathered by the committee and handed over to the HSE. If these alone do not show the need for a full time GP in Johnstownbridge the committee members inside, and outside the meeting, certainly did.”

O’ROURKE WELCOMES NEW KILCOCK BUS SERVICE

Frank O’Rourke TD has welcomed the new 115 Bus service for Kilcock commuters

‘Following representations that I made over the last couple of months to Bus Eireann to improve the bus service for Kilcock commuters, I was delighted that Bus Eireann put a new evening service on Route 115 in place, departing Dublin at 5.10pm. This commenced on Monday 19th of September.’

‘Each day this week, 35 to 40 commuters are using the new 5.10pm service from Dublin to Kilcock. This is a very positive response to the new service and it shows that once we develop a public transport service that is regular and reliable, more and more people will use public transport,’ Continue reading “O’ROURKE WELCOMES NEW KILCOCK BUS SERVICE”

This is an article that James Lawless TD wrote for the Liffey Champion about his Technology Brief

“When Micheál Martin asked me to become our party spokesperson for Science, Technology, Research & Development, I saw it as a reflection on my background – I studied Maths and Physics before training as a Lawyer – but it was also made clear that the party was aware of the presence and strategic importance of the multinational, high tech sector in Kildare North and that this was a factor in assigning me that brief.”

“In politics one can be lucky or unlucky and it is hard to say where I sit in terms of marking my opposite number in government, Minister Halligan.” Continue reading “LAWLESS SPEAKS TO LIFFEY CHAMPION ABOUT HIS TECHNOLOGY BRIEF”
