LAWLESS ACCUSES HALLIGAN OF BROKEN PROMISES

James Lawless TD had Minister of State John Halligan of broken promises as pupils in North-West Kildare are still not able to access School Bus services

James commented, “I have spent the past five weeks lobbying the Minister of State John Halligan to get school bus places for constituents in Johnstownbridge, Kilshanroe, Kilmurray, Dunferith, Timahoe and other areas in North West Kildare. O’ROURKE AND COLEMAN WELCOME PEDESTRIAN CROSSING AT BALLYOULSTER

Frank O’Rourke TD has professed himself delighted to see the pedestrian crossing on the Lucan Road at Ballyoulster in Celbridge installed

Frank said, “This is a project that I have been working on for some time at the request of many residents and members of the public so that safety would be improved at this location. The Lucan Road is an extremely busy and fast road and it was very difficult for people to cross the road safely to access Dublin Bus or for the many other amenities or services such as shops, schools etc.   It is very important that traffic management gets people to their destination safer and not faster.”

“This project was funded from  LPT money and I want to thank my colleagues for supporting this project which I pursued for funding. I am pleased to have worked also to deliver the bus stop shelter and the interconnecting footpath at Ballyoulster.”


I want to thank Cllr Michael Coleman for supporting these projects, the Kildare Co Council Area Office for delivering on them and the members of the public who raised these issues with me at my weekly clinics.

LAWLESS FURIOUS AT COVENEY SALLINS AMENITY REJECTION

The Minister for Planning and Housing, Simon Coveney TD, has rejected the Sallins amenity option in the Naas Municipal District Local Area plan

The Sallins Local Area Plan had contained a provision to zone 40 acres of land at Bodenstown as Amenity along with 30 for housing, the package also included a site for a second school and common use playing fields and community centre.

O’ROURKE WELCOMES PARTNERSHIP WITH COLOURTREND IN CELBRIDGE PROJECT

Irish-owned paint brand Colourtrend has announced the rollout of an initiative with Kildare Local Community Development Committee as part of the Celbridge Heritage Town Enhancement Pilot Project

The front of some shops and houses on Celbridge’s Main Street are to be given an immediate paint refresh as part of the innovative Project.

The Project will see the shops and houses on Main Street painted in a colour scheme devised by Colourtrend’s design experts, in conjunction with the local property owners, and will be painted with Colourtrend’s top quality paints. The pilot will bring together the local community, local businesses and the private company to deliver a fresh look for the County Kildare town in a model that could work well for towns all over Ireland. LAWLESS VOICES CONCERN OVER DREHID EXPANSION

James Lawless TD is concerned that a recent agreement with the Dept. of Environment has seen the volumes at the Drehid Facility waste site escalate again

James commented, “The load being received into the facility has practically doubled and this is having a particularly troubling effect on local roads which are being passed through by trucks bound for the dump, some making 4 round journeys a day on the same narrow roads.”

“I am concerned that there has not been great public awareness of this and whilst An Bord Pleanála are now considering their application for futher expansion, a lot of this has gone under the radar, bar for the residents who have noticed the increased traffic volumes. In particular local roads around Kill, Sallins, Clane and Prosperous are seeing this pattern and some of those roads are just not suitable.”

“I have written to Bord na Móna, the EPA and Kildare County Council to express my concerns on this. I am also very concerned at the prospect of a hazardous waste licence application which is expected to be made at the site in the near future also, which is in addition to the current application for increased volume.”
