Four New Classrooms at Newtown National School welcomed

Local Fianna Fáil Representatives have welcomed the announcement that four new classrooms will be provided at Newtown National School.

James Lawless TD commented “A number of weeks ago I had pleasure of visiting Newtown National School with local Cllr Paul Ward. Meeting with teaching staff it was very clear that the school had reached full capacity and urgently required additional classrooms. Having raised this with the Minister for Education in the Dáil I am delighted to confirm that four new classrooms will be provided for the school. I look forward to continuing to work with the school to aide their development and advocate for the teachers and students in Newtown.”

Naoise O’Cearuil – Latest update on Maynooth Education Campus

At today’s meeting of the Kildare Wicklow Education and Training Board, Councillor Naoise O’Cearuil pressed for further updates regarding the progression of the retendering of the project following Sammon’s Liquidation.

The timescale is as follows :

25th June: Pre qualify contractors for retendering
23rd July: Survey of contractors
8th November: Contract Award
End of March ’19: Contractor On Site
Completion: June 2020

Naoise commented, “This has pushed the completion date for the project to an entire year. The biggest concern now is that the current building is full to capacity and needs refurbishing, students and staff deserve better. The ETB have committed to renovations in the school and provide further temporary class rooms.”

“I will push to have the process of retendering expedited as much as possible and liaise with the ETB to ensure that the necessary provisions are made for the next two academic terms.

Naas Community College to proceed to tender – Lawless

James Lawless TD is pleased to announce that Naas Community College has finally been granted permission by the Department of Education to proceed to tender.

This means the new school building can proceed at Millennium Park and – James says – is a “great relief to parents, teachers, management and the entire school community”

“The school started enrollment in 2014 and has reached maximum capacity at its current temporary home in Craddockstown. The new building will cater for 1,000 pupils and is a state of the art design with facilities for music, art, science and other subjects as well as dedicated ASD units.” Continue reading “Naas Community College to proceed to tender – Lawless”
