Frank O’Rourke TD is pleased to confirm that the works to complete the road works, and activate the signal junction at Molly Ware Street in Kilcock will happen next month

James Lawless TD has lent his support to the Kill and Sallins Road Safety groups who turned out to support each other at the march for a crossing in Kill today.
James commented, “It defies belief that the council erected a temporary crossing in Kill village (and then took it away) at a cost of €20,000 rather than putting a permanent crossing in place for not much more. I am seeking a meeting with Kildare County Council to escalate this issue and get action.”
Michael Coleman has put down a motion seeking a substantial increase in the budget allocated to road and footpath maintenance in the older estates in Celbridge.
This is one of two motions he has submitted ahead of the Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District meeting on Friday 20th September. He has put forward two questions.
The Motions are as follows :
1. That the Council allocate a substantial increase in funding for Budget 2020 for the upgrade of Roads and Footpaths in older estates in Celbridge and Leixlip.
2. That a solar speed sign be installed on the Loughlinstown Road before Elm Hall Nursing Home and Retirement Village.
The Questions are as follows :
1. Can the members have an update on the removal of Eir poles on footpaths at a Church Road and at Oaklee on Maynooth Road?
2. Can the Members have an update on the appointment of a Community Warden for Celbridge?
Frank O’Rourke TD and Cllr Michael Coleman have welcomed the construction of a Bus Shelter at St. Wolstans School in Celbridge
Frank commented, “I’m delighted to see the Bus Shelter installed on the Clane road beside St. Wolstans school. This was an issue that myself and Cllr Michael Coleman has been working on for some time at the request of all those that use public and school transport. This Bus Shelter will now give an improved standard for all those people waiting to get the Bus at this location.”
“I will continue to make representations for further Bus Shelters to be installed at the appropriate locations in North Kildare. I want to thank the NTA and Kildare Co Council for their assistance in delivering this Shelter.”
At yesterday’s Maynooth Clane Municpal District meeting, councillors were presented with the submissions received from the public and from other interested groups in relation to the Part 8 (Public Consultation) on the Maynooth Ring Road. The council submitted their report in the form of a “Chief Executives Report”, by means of which they outline their reasons for particular parts of the projects.
During the meeting, Councillor Naoise O’Cearuil raised the concerns enumerated below that had been raised with him by members of the public with a reply where appropriate. It should be noted that many of the issues that have been submitted will be dealt with later at design stage. Responses from Naoise are also included.
1. That a 30km zone be implemented on approach to Griffin Rath hall & Manor – They don’t think this is possible as it will be a main road but will ask the County Speed Limit review committee to look at it. They said that the curvature in the road, traffic lights and ramps should slow the traffic down considerably however.
2. That noise reducing asphalt is used on the road – This will be done.
3. That the shared space approaching the new bridge for pedestrians and cyclists is not ideal – We were told that this was unavoidable as there isn’t enough room for completely segregated areas at this location leading up to the bridge.
4. That a table top ramp be placed outside Griffin Rath Hall with a yellow box – This will be done.
5. That roundabouts be used instead of traffic lights – They will not allow roundabouts as they are dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists
6. That there are railings in front of pedestrian entrances to estates to stop children from running onto a busy road – This will be done.
7. That walls along the route are an adequate height and are stone walls in keeping with the surroundings – The roads department have recommended this to the planning department. Following this stage there will be a detailed landscaping plan and we will be able to address many other issues at this stage.
