LAWLESS CRITICISES FAILURE TO TACKLE RAIL OVERCROWDING

James Lawless has criticised the failure of the Government and Minister Shane Ross in particular for their failure to urgently tackle the pressing issue of lack of capacity on the Kildare Line

James commented, “With an election looming we could badly do with a new Minister for Transport who actually engages on the brief. I have raised the parking (and carriage capacity) issues at Sallins in particular, and Kildare line in general, with Taoiseach, Tanaiste and Minister Ross numerous times but it seems they are not listening.”

“In the meantime I continue working with private and public interests and pushing for the stakeholders to work this out but really its time for a new government and a new Minister to instruct the NTA and Irish Rail, provide budgets and make this happen.”

O’ROURKE SEEKS EXTRA CAPACITY FOR CLANE STRAFFAN BUS SERVICE

Local Fianna Fail TD, Frank O’Rourke, has made representations to have the bus service serving Clane and Straffan commuters improved.

Frank commented, “The Bus Service, Route 120, needs to immediately increase its capacity. Recently, commuters have been left at Bus Stops as the Buses are full. This is really unacceptable.”

“I have repeatedly called for increased capacity on this 120 bus route. Recently the service is unacceptable due to lack of additional capacity and we need to improve this service immediately. We must improve this service.”

“The numbers of commuters are growing using this service from Clane and Straffan and we need to improve it. We also need to provide a link between Straffan and Maynooth / Celbridge. ”, Frank concluded.

LAWLESS RAISES ONGOING PARKING CRISIS IN SALLINS IN THE DAIL

Yesterday in the Dáil James Lawless asked the Taoiseach to intervene in the ongoing crisis with parking facilities at Sallins Train Station.

James commented, “The carpark expansion has not been delivered and this week’s board meeting of CIE kicked plans to touch again. The Minister for Transport has refused to take any interest in the issue. The Taoiseach has now requested Minister Shane Ross to respond directly to me on the matter. I am also seeking an urgent meeting with the Chief Executive of CIE. This cannot continue.”

LAWLESS CRITICISES DELAY IN SALLINS UNDERGROUND CAR PARK

James Lawless TD has criticised the further delay in the provision of an Underground car park in Sallins Train Station

James said, “I recently wrote to the Group Secretary of CIÉ about the ongoing delay in opening the planned underground carpark at Sallins Train Station. The response, which is below, has confirmed that it is now not expected to open until spring in 2020. Geraldine Finucane, Group Secretary of CIÉ, outlined that Irish Rail are very close to agreeing terms with the agents on a lease for the underground carpark which would include the necessary remediation works. The site has suffered flooding in the past and requires substantial repairs to bring it up to the required standard.” Continue reading “LAWLESS CRITICISES DELAY IN SALLINS UNDERGROUND CAR PARK”
