LAWLESS RAISES NAAS HOSPITAL OVERCROWDING IN THE DAIL

James Lawless raised the chronic overcrowding of Naas Hospital with the Minister for Health in the Dáil yesterday

Naas General Hospital is the most overcrowded hospital in the Eastern region, which is shocking when you consider Dublin hospitals are also in this region.

James said, “A new endoscopy unit is badly needed as procedures are currently carried out in a prefab that is cold and lacks privacy and the Lakeview psychiatric unit also needs significant investment. An upgrade of the hospital has been in the pipeline for some time now and I have asked the Minister to ensure delivery.”

LAWLESS RAISES SCOIL DARA PLACES SHORTAGES IN DAIL

James Lawless TD raised the chronic shortage of places for children at Scoil Dara in the Dail tonight
James said, “Tonight in the Dail chamber I raised Scoil Dara, Kilcock and the chronic shortage of places for children applying in September 2020. While a school extension is in planning it needs to be massively fast-tracked and additional accommodation – prefabs – need to placed onside ahead of the new school year.”
” Additionally the patronage of the new school at Enfield must be assigned so that a principal can be appointed and that school can then begin to host some of the pupils in that area. The Minister committed to both above actions and I will continue to work with school management, parents groups and the department to keep the pressure on this.”
“This is an issue I have been closely working with Cllr Paul Ward on”

LAWLESS WELCOMES OPENING OF EADESTOWN PLAYGROUND

James Lawless TD and Cllr Carmel Kelly attended the opening of Eadestown Playground today

James commented, “It was great to attend the official opening of Eadestown playground yesterday. This is the 4th new playground to be opened in the Naas district in as many years and goes back to a pact we made as Councillors in 2014 that we would ensure LPT monies were invested back into each community through new amenities. Kill, Sallins, Caragh and Eadestown have now benefited. Great thanks are due to Eadestown GAA for the use of the land to build it on.”

LAWLESS RAISES LEIXLIP WATER TREATMENT PROBLEMS WITH MINISTER

James Lawless TD has contacted Minister Eoghan Murphy about the ongoing issues at Leixlip Water Treatment Plant and the current boil water notice

I asked the Minister to confirm what measures are being taken to reassure the public that water is being properly treated and is fit for consumption.

                              James Lawless TD

James said, “The Minister outlined that he is extremely concerned that this plant has been the subject of two boil water notices in quick succession. He stated that Irish Water and Fingal County Council have implemented automatic plant shutdown on high turbidity if there is a failure to respond to an alarm within 15 minutes. In the case of the current Boil Water Notice, the issues now arising are linked to the need to upgrade the older part of this treatment plant to improve the performance of the plant. In particular, the EPA has identified in its audits that the filters at the plant need to be upgraded. The Minister stated that it is a matter for the EPA and the HSE as regulators – and for Irish Water working with the local authority, to ensure that national standards are complied with.”
