Negotiations have been ongoing between KCC, NAMA and the developers and agreement was reached at the end of the summer. Further to this, Kildare County Council have signed off on an agreement with the receiver which allowed it to be put up for sale. KCC has also taken possession of the Cill Corbain houses immediately adjacent as their value represents some of the money owed to the Council for the original development.

James commented, “I am pleased to hear that all obstacles to the sale of this site have been removed. I have been actively seeking a resolution of this problem for nearly a decade and the sale of the Shopping Centre is a vital part of the revival of Naas town centre.”

LAWLESS WELCOMES PLANNED SALE OF NAAS SHOPPING CENTRE

James Lawless TD has welcomed the news that the Naas Shopping Centre is to be put up for sale in March. James has been actively involved with trying to expedite the sale and development of the site for many years.

James commented, “I have had multiple meetings with NAMA, KCC, many potential buyers, the sellers and the receiver of this development over the past few years. With the imminent arrival of Dunnes to Naas Main Street, the trading environment is changing and the final sale of this property will accelerate that.”

James added, “The preference of KCC and myself is for the centre to be bought and developed as a shopping centre but any serious proposal should be considered. Whatever happens next, this is the start of a new chapter for Naas town.”
