NAAS COMMUTER EXPERIENCE MUST BE IMPROVED – DIGNAN

Naas Fianna Fáil Candidate Terry Dignan has said that both short-term and long-term solutions are needed to improve the services for the thousands of Naas Residents who commute to work in Dublin every day.

Terry’s comments come on the back of a Public meeting Terry and James Lawless hosted on Thursday 18th April in Lawlor’s Hotel which focussed on public transport issues for local commuters out of which Terry and James have set up an action group with over twenty people signed up who want to see change.

Terry said, “James gave a very detailed update on the plans for the improvement in the Rail services. We had a pragmatic discussion on issues such as overcrowding on trains, lack of parking space, inadequate timetables, disability access and the feeder-bus service.”

“We also talked about short-term solutions such as having trains retrofitted with grab-handles and poles to improve safety. Longer-term solutions which James has been working on include extending the short-hop fare zone to Newbridge to ease demand at Sallins, and increasing the available Rail stock.”

Terry concluded, “I hope to be able to continue working with James on these and other issues if elected”

O’ROURKE WELCOMES ADDITIONAL 120 BUS SERVICE FOR CELBRIDGE

The new morning Bus Eireann 120  is providing an earlier service for Celbridge commuters. The new additional morning service on Route 120, commenced on Monday 27th of November last.

“Over the last number of months, I have made representations to Bus Eireann and the National Transport Authority to improve the service on the 120 Bus Eireann. This new service from Clane is providing an earlier morning departure from Celbridge into the City.”, stated Frank O’Rourke TD

“Previously, the first Bus Éireann service from Celbridge was 07:45hrs. This new service will operate via Celbridge at 07:20hrs. This new service also serves Straffan. It arrives into the city city at 8.10.”

“I welcome this news and I will campaign to have this service and other services, including Route 67, improved in the coming months. We need to increase the morning capacity of Route 67 outbound, as the number of passengers using the service between Celbridge and Maynooth increases. Route 67 provides a link for people living in Celbridge that are working or studying in Maynooth.” concluded Deputy O’Rourke.

LAWLESS WELCOMES SALLINS BYPASS BUDGET

James Lawless has welcomed allocated funding for the Sallins Bypass Project in the recent budget

“I was delighted to see that Minister Donohoe has taken on my submission to the Capital Infrastructure programme and provided funding in the Budget for the Sallins bypass and the Osberstown interchange.”

“This funding commitment is announced weeks after the contract was awarded to widen the M7 motorway, deliver the Sallins bypass and the Osberstown Interchange. I have been working and campaigning for this project to progress since moving to Sallins, as both a councillor on Kildare County Council and as a TD in Dáil Éireann.”

“I will continue to put pressure on the Government to see these vital pieces of infrastructure delivered for Sallins, Naas, and the wider area.”

LAWLESS CALLS FOR FAIRER PARKING REGULATION IN WATERWAYS

James Lawless TD has criticised the use of clamping in the Waterways Carpark in Sallins

James said, “In the past week alone I have been contacted by many commuters who have been unfairly clamped. These car parks have been used for commuters at Sallins train station for many years, including myself.”

” I understand the arrangement had worked well while providing convenience and capacity to the train station. LAWLESS WELCOMES SHORT HOP EXTENSION

James Lawless TD is pleased to confirm that Sallins, Naas and Kilcock train stations will be moved into the ‘short hop zone’ and fares will be reduced by up to 50% following a series of meetings I held with the National Transport Authority (NTA) on the matter
