Frank O’Rourke TD has welcomed the allocation of funds for projects in Kilcock and Prosperous under the Town and Village Town Enhancement Scheme.
However Deputy O’Rourke also highlighted that Kildare was not receiving its fair share of funding under this scheme.
“Kilcock and Prosperous will each receive €100,000 under the 2019 allocations . Three main approach roads to Prosperous will be improved. Four principal approach roads to Kilcock will also be improved.”
“The Town and Village Scheme is to assist with the regeneration of towns and villages throughout Ireland. Over the last 3 years, Kildare has only received €1.3m of the €53m approved under the scheme, for 19 projects of the total 670 projects approved.”
“I want to acknowledge the work of Kildare County Council and Community Groups in preparing the applications for funding under this scheme. I understand that Kildare County Council made 11 applications for funding for different projects.”
“Kildare is receiving less than its fair share of funding under this scheme and while I welcome the funding for the 4 schemes for Kildare, we need to press for a greater level of funding so that Kildare receives the national average,”
