O’ROURKE AGAIN CALLS FOR ACTION ON CELBRIDGE SCHOOL CAMPUS

Frank O’Rourke TD has called on the Minister for Education to press ahead with the provision of the school campus for Celbridge

“Three schools, Celbridge Community School, St Patricks National School, and St Raphael’s Special School are set to be co-located and we need to press ahead with the project without delay. All schools need a permanent location and having them on the same site as part of an educational campus make sense. We have a growing population and need to ensure that our educational facilities are fit for purpose given this growth.”

“I have made repeated representations and put down a parliamentary question to the Minister for Education in relation to this issue. I received a commitment that it is a priority for the Department of Education to progress this project. I will keep the pressure on the Department and the Minster to ensure that we make progress for these schools.”

O’ROURKE PUSHES FOR OPENING OF CELBRIDGE DENTAL CLINIC

Frank O’Rourke TD spoke in the Dáil this week on the timeline for the opening of the Dental Clinic at the refurbished Health Centre in Celbridge.

Frank said, “The Dental Clinic was promised 12 months ago, and in reply to a sequence of PQs I raised with the Minister for Health, we are now being told it is to be pushed out for another 4 years. This is entirely unacceptable, especially as the closest alternative service is almost 30km away in Naas. I have called on the Minister to meet with me,important issue, and in the interim, to offer a viable solution which will provide access for families, to a dental service.”

COLEMAN DISAPPOINTED AT COUNCIL XMAS PARKING DECISION

Councillor Michael Coleman has expressed his disappointment that a majority of Councillors in the Celbridge Municipal District have voted against providing Free Parking over the Christmas Period

Cllr Michael Coleman

Michael commented, “Unfortunately, for the second year in a row, Councillors today voted against free parking in Celbridge and Leixlip for the Christmas season. I am very disappointed that I was not supported by my fellow Celbridge Councillors concerning the proposal that I once again put forward at the request of Celbridge Business Association (C.B.A.) and businesses in Leixlip. My priority has been, and always will be, promoting our local businesses, economy and jobs and our businesses have stated to all of the Councillors that they have suffered greatly as a result of not having free parking last Christmas.”

“I would like to thank my fellow Councillors Joe Neville and Nuala Killeen who saw the importance in implementing free parking at this time, however due to FOUR councillors voting in favour of paid parking and embodying the Christmas Grinch today, paid parking continues. Despite my disappointment I continue to stand with businesses in the Celbridge and Leixlip Municipal District and hope that the community will shop local and continue to support local businesses this Christmas.”
