O’ROURKE WELCOMES ADDITIONAL SERVICES ON ORBITAL ROUTE

Frank O’Rourke TD has welcomed the addition of services on the Naas to Blanchardstown 139 Bus Route

“Recently, additional services were added to the 139 Bus Route servicing Naas to Blanchardstown, via Clane, Rathcoffey Maynooth and Leixlip. One additional service at 7.00am departing Naa…s and one additional evening return service.”

“This service is growing in popularity, students attending college, commuters linking to the train service, people going to work, hospital visits or using other public transport services are examples of the valuable contribution to the area.”

“I campaigned for this Orbital Route and it is now in service for well over a year. We need to increase the number of services on the route and more commuters will use it. I will continue to raise the issue with the National Transport Authority to have the service improved.”

“As we cater for increased demand for public transport, we need to improve the Bus and Rail Services for North Kildare. The Bus and Rail Service for Kilcock needs improvement. Rail service on the Maynooth and Kildare Line need to be improved and we need a connection linking Maynooth to Tallaght via Celbridge and City West.”

O’ROURKE SEEKS BUS SHELTER FOR RATHCOFFEY

Frank O’Rourke TD has called on the National Transport Authority (NTA) and Kildare County Council to provide a Bus Shelter at Rathcoffey

“After working with the communities in Rathcoffey and Clane to secure Orbital Bus Route 139 linking Naas to Blanchardstown via Clane, Rathcoffey, Maynooth and Leixlip, it is now important that we provide adequate supports to support bus commuters, as passengers numbers grow.”

“Passenger numbers on Route 139 reached a peak of 11,500 per 4 week period, in late 2018 and early 2019. I have seen myself at first hand the numbers grow. The Route, since last month, now allows a link to the Sallins train station which is an important link for those using this service and should lead to further growth in passenger numbers.”

LAWLESS CRITICISES NTA ROLLBACK ON 120 BUS ROUTE

James Lawless TD has claimed that the decision by the NTA to remove double decker buses from the 120 and other commuter coach services in Kildare has caused huge problems with a service that already was under pressure.

Double decker buses have been transferred to Go Ahead as they prepare to take over the operation of the routes.

James commented, “Services at peak times simply do not have enough capacity and the decision by the NTA to transfer double deck buses to Go Ahead and not make arrangements to alleviate the inevitable problems is frustrating and just not good enough.”

“I wrote to the NTA and asked that increased capacity is provided and the NTA has informed me that Bus Eireann has put in place an operational plan to mitigate the problems.”

“Passengers cannot be expected to continue to pay for a lower quality service when we are not even sure of when the route will be transferred to Go Ahead and capacity levels will return to normal. It is expected by the end of this year, but we do not have a date or timetable and alternative arrangements to deal with short term capacity problems should be made by the NTA and Bus Eireann.”

O’ROURKE WELCOMES NEW BUS ON KILCOCK ROUTE

Frank O’Rourke TD has been informed by Bus Eireann that an additional vehicle has been allocated to the 9am morning service on Route 115 for Kilcock commuters

This service will commence tomorrow morning and start from Kilcock each morning.

“An additional bus was required for this 9am service as the turnaround time for the existing fleet to return from Dublin for a 9am Kilcock departure was too challenging. This is welcome news for Kilcock Bus Commuters as the current service is falling well behind what is expected.”

O’ROURKE WELCOMES ADDITIONAL BUS ON 67X ROUTE

Frank O’Rourke had been campaigning for additional resources for some time

Frank O’Rourke TD has welcomed the news that four additional 67X services are on the way for Celbridge commuters. From November 5th, two additional 67X Bus morning and evening services will be in place.

Frank commented, “These additional direct services are needed for Celbridge commuters. I have campaigned for some time to have additional direct bus services provided for Celbridge commuters. I debated this with the Minister for Transport in Dáil Éireann in April and I had many meetings with the NTA and Dublin Bus to secure these much needed additional services for Celbridge, which has a population of 22,000 people.”

“The 67X is operating at capacity and we need to increase the capacity and frequency to cater for current demand, and these additional services are a step in the right direction. We are making progress on the 67X and the 67 service. 67X is a direct Celbridge/Dublin service providing commuters with a relatively high speed connection to and from Dublin City Centre.”

“As the college students return, this improved service will ease some of the pressure on the route. I will continue to campaign for better public transport services for Celbridge commuters”
